Deflection of a Loaded Beam |
Discuss the validity of the power curve fit to the data. This can be done by considering the linearity of your log-log graph (consider the curve shape as well as the worst fits). A graph of D versus Ln (once n has been determined) can help in determining the fit of the power curve as well as obtaining a more accurate value for A.
The calculation of the uncertainty in A is complicated because there is a correlation between the values of A and n. For any one value of n one can calculate a value of A with an uncertainty determined from the uncertainties of L and D. Hence, to calculate an uncertainty in A, use the values of L and D with uncertainties and the value of n without its uncertainty.
Theory for bending of a cantilevered beam is presented in a paper linked from this experiment's web site.
