14 people showed up, a smaller group than usual. Gary Cullen gave a talk and
display of the very early stereo cameras/viewers including the first stereo camera built
(we must try taking a 3dClub picture with it!). Dragan Smekal presented his work of stereo
slides of the human brain (wow!) - amazing to see this in 3D as opposed to just textbook
pictures. Dragan had used a Macro-Realist, a camera that was actually designed for
dentists to take stereos of the patients mouth and teeth. And as a finale, Eva Foik
presented a wonderful selection of recent slides from using a Belplasca camera.
During the meeting, Peter Lowery took a number of stereo picture with his Argus
3D Stereo camera. The film was processed at Black's where there is the option to also have
the prints digitized (resolution of 768x512, jpg sizes of 52-85k). I downloaded the photos
from the Black's website, ran them through Corel PhotoPaint to increase jpg compression
(reduced the file sizes to 23-41k) and place them into our 3D Club site having Frontpage
generate thumbnails. Click thumbnails for the complete photo , parallel view for stereo
(try the omniscope to assist in viewing them!).
