3D Published

Publishing for mass distribution (such as magazines) often utilizes anaglyph presentation of 3D for viewing convenience. Individual uses of 3D (such as wedding photos) are usually formatted as twin views.

Publications

A few prominent examples of publications that have run special 3D issues are Sport’s Illustrated (Winter2000 swimsuit issue and Oct2000 Sydney Olympics), Toronto daily newspaper (Sat., Apr21, 2001) and National Geographic (Aug98 on Mars Pathfinder and Titanic Exploration). Publications often report increased readership with 3D issues.

Advertisers in special 3D issues often use the opportunity to run with 3D ads.

Brochures

3D in brochures captures consumer attention as well as providing a unique view into the product. Brochures with 3D have a longer life as consumer will tend to keep them as something special.

Twin Views

Twin pictures are mounted side-by-side for a specialized slide or print viewer. Requires some minimal training to view twin 3D images. Has found visualization applications in specialized areas such as scientific, architectural and geography. Might also find uses for specialty catalogues.
